My name is Zuzanna. I’m a photographer, a wife and a mom. I love to drink hot tea with lemon and watch funny and romantic movies. “Dirty dancing” is my all time favorite. Great music, awesome moves and romance, what else can you ask for? Every time I hear a great tune I cannot help myself and I just have to shake what my mama gave me. On cold, rainy evenings I crochet hats, scarves and whatever inspires me.
I grew up in Poland. In the 80s. Looking through my family photo albums as a kid was magical for me. I remember being in awe of the beautiful black and white photographs. My dad is the one who has been documenting our day to day life with photos and keeping a family journal. I got this passion from him. And as I recently found out he got it from his mother. I think it is very important to preserve the memories for yourself, your family and the future generations. I strive to capture images that will make you smile and help you remember all the details that are being forgotten as time goes by.
I traveled a lot as a teen. I got to see most of the Europe and a few more exotic countries. I am really blessed to get to experience that. I think it thought me that beauty is very versatile and you can find it everywhere. Since 2001 I have been living in Chicago, IL where I met my husband. He was born in Mexico, so we have a hodgepodge of languages at our house. We speak English, Polish and Spanish and sometimes all at once. “Polspanglish” anyone?
I’ve been taking pictures since I was in 7th grade but decided to pursue it professionally after my first daughter was born in 2008. I have two girls and one boy now and my photography has evolved a lot since then. As time goes on, more and more I realize how important it is to take meaningful photographs that capture a sliver of the life that we experience now. Kids grow up so fast, loved ones pass away and all we are left with are our memories. And if we’re lucky with photographs.
I have two rules that I try to live by: “Keep it simple” and “Less is more”.
I hope you’ll invite me into your life to tell with images your family’s unique story and to create photographs that you’ll cherish forever.
